Misty-Your Movie Pal

Let me introduce myself.  My name is Misty and I'm an all American, popcorn eating movie fan.  I love everything about the movies.  I am actually one of those people who list "Watching Movies" as a hobby.  I've got some college under my belt, but none of it has to do with writing or critiquing.  Some would say I'm not qualified to write movie reviews - but they would be wrong.  We are all movie critics.  Every time you give someone an opinion on the last movie you saw - you're a movie critic.  And frankly I'm a little tired of the critics that only like the "artsy-fartsy" stuff.  I'll admit it - I went and saw Alien Vrs. Predator.  You know what, I liked it.  I mean it wasn't going to win any Oscar's but it was entertaining and pretty cool to watch.

So I know not everyone is going to agree with my opinions, but heck my own husband doesn't agree with me half the time.   And that's okay.  Because in the end,  "We like what we like".  Some things grab us while others don't.

I thought one good way to get this started was to tell you my all time favorite and worst movies.  First let me start with the worst - no thinking involved here.  I automatically know the worst.  Drum roll please: The Thin Red Line.  Director Terrence Malick's adaptation of James Jones' autobiographical 1962 novel, focusing on the conflict at Guadalcanal during the second World War.   It's tagline was "Every man fights his own war".  Well I had to fight the urge to leave.  I hated this movie.  It made little to no sense.  It jump from one scene to another and had no real plot.  At a running time of 170 minutes (yes 3 hours) it was almost like being punished.  Trust me - don't see this movie.

Now my all time favorite movie.  I really had to think about this one.  I've got a lot of movies that I just love.  I watch them over and over.  Some are Gladiator, The Matrix, The Breakfast Club, My Fair Lady, Enemy Mine, Red Dawn, Equilibrium and all of the M. Night Shyamalan movies.  But after much thought I realized that if I was going to be trapped on an island and I could only watch one movie over and over it would be E.T.  I'm just fond of the movie.  It was the very first movie I saw in the theater.  I was 6 years old and it's a memory I'll cherish forever.  I laughed, I screamed, I fell asleep.  What can I say, I was 6.  The next week my mom took me back during a matinee so I could see the end.  I've been in love with the movies ever since.

I hope you enjoy my reviews, but it's okay if you don't.  I'll try to never steer you wrong.  And if you've never had the large blue icee - get one.  Their great!
