Week of August 4th

Saturday 8/4/07  8:30am
Todd and I left for Galion Ohio for the 3rd Annual Ratt Riot put on by the Ruzt Pilotz.  It was a very cool car gathering.  I call it that because there were not trophies given out; just cool cars to look at.  Everyone was friendly and willing to talk about their cars.  There was planty more to do besides look at the cars too...there was a SWAP MEET!
I got a 7 qt. chrome oil pan for just 30 bucks (thanks Don), a Willys and a Whippet hub cap, 2 old spark plugs, and 2 old car parts still in their original packaging, and they were selling event tees so I got two.  Of course the oil pan is going on my gasser.  After I was finished spending my money I checked out some more stuff.  There were raffles and give-aways for answering questions right (or at least close to right).  I won cool crossed wrenches with a spark plug in the middle (you would have to see it) to hang off the gasser.  There was music from the fifties and sixties and a pin-up girl contest.  The gals got some cash for first through third place and I lost my voice since all of the voting was done by screaming.  Ol Skool Rods was there taking pictures for their rag, and there were pin stripers showing off too.  All this for five dollars to park.  I got to say for the money it was one of the best times I have had at a one day event all summer.  Thanks Ruzt Pilotz for a great event.  See you all there next year!
SLIDESHOW OF RATT RIOT

Later that night the LCN crew went to Pacemakers for some drag racing.  My left knee decided not to be a knee anymore so I was stuck in the bleachers taking pictures but I made sure the grill was nearby. Pacemakers grill sells the best track food around, you have got to get a shredded chicken and fries, ummm tasty!
SLIDESHOW OF PACEMAKERS

Tuesday 8/7/07
Me and my mom have a tradition every year of going to the Hartford Fair just north of Croton Ohio for the tractor pulls.  This year they had 2 super stock classes, two and four wheel drive modified truck classes, a modified tractors class, and a pro stock semi truck class.  In the Ohio Mid Season Championship Pull sponsored by the OSTPA(Ohio State Tractor Pulling Association).  They take the top 8 in the state for each class and that is how the classes are filled and that makes for a great show.  Before they start pulling each of the drivers sign a Frisbee and throw them into the pit side bleachers.  If you have the Frisbee with the winners name on it you get cool prizes.  They said this fair was the biggest crowd they had all season.  All in all it was a dirt slinging good time.
