Stardust I know most people hear the words “Fairytale/Sci-fi/Fantasy” and roll their eyes. “Been there, done that – nothing new.” And for the most part, they’re right. How many times can you see a unicorn and not cringe? But I like Sci-fi, so I thought I’d at least give “Stardust” a try. Honestly, I was expecting to be disappointed, however, I was very pleasantly surprised. The writing is above par and the acting is spot on. It’s nice to see a movie packed with Hollywood heavy hitters like Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer and Robert DeNiro - and then to see an outstanding performance from a relative newcomer, Charlie Cox. I don’t want to ruin any of the story for anyone, so I’ll be brief in the plot description. A star, Clair Danes, falls to the earth and three quests to find her begin, one for love, one for eternal life and another for power. This is really a story of a boy becoming a man and finding true love. But don’t worry; it’s not a ‘chick-flick’. There’s plenty of action, comedy (Robert DeNiro dancing in a dress) and magic. You know it’s a good movie when everyone leaving the theater is saying, “What a good movie!” I would recommend this movie to anyone. It does contain some violence and magic, but nothing more than you would see in “Harry Potter” or “Spider Man”. Definitely and A+ grade! |
