Who’ll Stop the Rain

Saturday, September 8th...Even with the worst weather in 22 years of Lite the Nite Car Show, rain and more rain, the show must go on.  We arrived about 7:30am on the Square in Newark Ohio for the biggest one day car show in central Ohio.  You know the one with the six foot trophies (50 of them and 2 were 7 feet tall). 

As soon as we got the booth set up I was off taking pictures of the cars as they came in.  Then the rain came and rain it did.  Every time it stopped I was off taking pictures.  The car owners and their families got a work-out keeping their cars dry and shiny.  With around four hundred cars registered and noone willing to leave, it was a great show.  It cleared up about 4pm and I got about another hour of taking pictures of the cars.  I met so many great car people and their cars.  We got hit by a thunderstorm and it rained hard for maybe 30 minutes.  Word came that the awards would be handed out at 6:30pm instead of 7:30pm.  The winning ticket was drawn for the 50/50 worth over five hundred dollars to the winner.  Licking County Now had a free raffle at one, three and five for some cool stuff and door prizes were given out all day long while music from the fifty’s and sixty’s played the whole time.  I say a great big wrenches up to the Newark Rodders for a great show and every one for braving the weather.
