This weekend started out with the cruise-in at the Jolly Pirate Doughnut Shop on 30th Street for a fun evening with car people and their cars and the world's sweetest cheeseburger which was made up of several types of doughnut flavors and filling to look amazingly like a cheesburger. Ohhh Yummy! Jim. M. provided the 50's and 60's music and raffled off doughnuts and a 50/50.
Saturday the LCN crew went to National Trail Raceway for the car show at the Jegs Northern Sportsnationals, and yours truly went to my hometown of Utica to cover the Utica Junior Firefighters car show at the Utica Homecoming and Street Fair. My car was entered in the show and I got to talk and hang out with friends. The show keeps getting biggery every year. They had well over 100 cars in the show this year with cars from the 20's to presend and Larry Morgan's Pro Stock car on display. Congrats on making it in ithe countdown Larry. Larry is also a native of Utica and a lifelong friend.
Sunday it was off to National Trails again to cover the Northern Sportsnationals. After roaming the pits and taking pictures and talking to the racers, it was time to go catch the action "trackside". It's a great feeling when a car doing a wheelie passes by just a couple of feet from you. What a Rush!! I'm looking forward to doing this again.
Later. See you all at Happy Apple Days Bird, Your Gearhead at Large
