Home Advertise with Us Christmas Card Holder
Christmas is one occasion where you get cards and sometimes don’t know where to put them all. Some people tape them up around the fireplace, or maybe around a doorway, but there’s a place where you can display your cards that will take up little room but will draw your guests to it in amazement.
A simple coffee can is what you need to display every one of your cards - even if you get dozens and dozens! No, don’t put them in the can - make a card holder from the can. That’s right. All you need is the can and some yarn for this project which is so simple even a child can make it. Just because it’s a simple project doesn’t mean it isn’t impressive, though.
Purchase yarn in holiday colors, but keep in mind, this project doesn’t have to be just for Christmas. Start by placing one end of the yarn just inside the can which has already had the lid removed. Tape or glue the yarn end to the inside of the can.
Now wrap the yarn, round and round, winding it vertically around the can. Each time you wrap the yarn make sure it butts up against the previous row. Continue winding the yarn around the can, switching colors anytime you want. To switch colors just tie the end of one color to the end of another color and continue wrapping. Make sure the knots won’t show on the outside of the can. Instead, make the knots at the end of the can where it has been opened.
After the can is completely covered in yarn strips glue or tape the end to the open end of the can. Set the can to where the open end is downward. Now display the cards by scooting the card through the yarn, going behind one strand of yarn, and aligning the strand to the fold of the card. The card will hang on the can with the yarn running down the fold. Add more and more cards - as many cards as you have strands of yarn.
