UMTR at Pacemaker's
Back again.
This time we ventured north a few miles to "Pacemaker's Dragway Park" in Mt. Vernon, Ohio to see the United Manual Transmission Racers go at each other in the classes of "Street Stick" and "Pwer Shift". It was a great time.
The cars ranged from a VW Karmin Ghia to a really bad*ss '57 Chevy convertible, and early and late model Mustangs. You just had to be there to see the vast variety of cars in this gorup of racers, with their smoking burnouts and two foot or more wheelies of 60s style racing. You could walk through the pits and look at the cars, buy one of their Tee's or Decals and talk to the racers, which to me is as fun as watching them race. All in all it was the most fun for $ 5.00 I've had in a long time. I'll have pictures of the event soon, be sure to check back. The next UMTR will be at National Trail Raceway on Saturday, August 18th for those who missed them at "Pacemaker's". Your Gearhead at Large, Bird NEW SECTION!! Articles by our "Gearhead at Large" |
